Long Distance Running (LDR) includes road, mountain, trail,
ultra, and cross country races. Occasionally, some LDR events are held on tracks, such as 24 hour
endurance runs, but most take place on roads, trails, or other off-track venues. LDR
events can vary in length and may involve distances of a mile, through the marathon distance (42
km or 26.2 miles), and all the way to ultra-marathons
that may cover from 28 miles to 100 or more miles in one
event.
USATF
protects the interests and eligibility of its member-athletes; and establishes and
maintains the sports' rules of competition. USATF also provides
sanctioning,
running event insurance, and
race course
certification for events throughout Florida and the United States.
